A Prayerful Pause. {poetry}

It’s a prayerful pause
as budding leaves droop,
redbuds weep
a solemn silence accentuates
the steel gray mistiness
at the cusp of nightfall.

Candles lit one by one
flicker over shadows
seal in the warmth and
bridge the escape of dawn
into a trill of early birdsong.
