“Just” words. {poetry}

Words,
barbed wired
and rusty spears.
It’s harsh to touch
the embers of fiery soreness.

Linear dissolves
when wind kicks raged flames
and tears douse the shame.

We die each time
a branding iron
penetrates our soul.

We regenerate
each time
a tender
herbal balm
rests
on the holy of
jagged edges.

Rewriting,
rescripting
ligament’s memories
and heredity’s cells of survival.

We live with our demons
until we befriend them
or die fighting alone.
